Barcelona have once again moved to secure the future of one of their brightest academy prospects, with highly-rated midfielder Samuel Borniquel becoming the latest youngster to sign his first professional contract with the club.
The Catalan giants have made youth development one of the pillars of their sporting project, and the latest agreement further underlines the club’s determination to protect the next generation of La Masia talent from growing interest across Europe.
Borniquel’s renewal arrives as Barcelona continue a busy period of contract extensions within the academy, with several highly regarded youngsters committing their futures to the club in recent weeks.
The 16-year-old midfielder officially signed his first professional deal, becoming the latest member of Barcelona’s promising 2010 generation to put pen to paper.
Borniquel joined Barcelona from Real Zaragoza in 2024 and is considered one of the standout midfield prospects within his age group.
Comfortable in possession and known for his intelligence on the ball, the youngster has quickly established himself as a player the club views as part of its long-term plans.
His contract signing came only hours after another member of the same generation, Gorka Buil, also secured his future with the Blaugrana .
Like Borniquel, Buil arrived from Real Zaragoza and has impressed club officials since making the move to Catalonia.
