Gold prices today, Tuesday, June 2: Prices continue to hover in the $4,500 range

Gold ( GC=F ) August futures opened at $4,515.80 per troy ounce on Tuesday, up 0.2% from Mondayโ€™s closing price. The price of gold moved higher this morning, shifting to $4,558.10 per troy ounce as of 8:08 a.m. ET.

Over the last couple of weeks, gold prices have remained steady amid daily developments out of the Middle East. More recently, the markets have been in a holding pattern, hopeful that the latest rounds of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran will yield tangible improvements, namely the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and at least a semi-permanent ceasefire.

Over the last five days, according to Yahoo Finance, gold prices are up 1.28%.
