The Mars Telecommunications Network will replace aging systems and provide faster, more reliable data links for rovers, landers, and future crewed missions. The contract reflects NASAโ€™s urgency to expand infrastructure for Mars exploration as multiple agencies and companies plan more frequent missions. Current relaysโ€”like the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and Mavenโ€”are aging, and data bottlenecks slow science return and operational decision-making.
