Henry Pollock signs £400K annual deal with Northampton Saints until 2028

Henry Pollock has signed a new contract with Northampton Saints that runs to the summer of 2028 and is reported to be worth more than £400,000 a year, ending a week‑long stand‑off over his future. The 21‑year‑old forward said the decision was “very easy” and that he was “very, very happy to sign here”.

The deal comes after two breakout seasons in which Pollock earned caps for England and the British and Irish Lions and helped the Saints clinch last year’s Premiership title. His agent, Eddie Hearn, had floated the idea of a seven‑figure salary, but the league’s £6.4 million salary cap and strict transfer rules made such a figure unlikely. Pollock’s previous deal, signed in December 2024, was believed to be around £150,000, so the new terms represent a substantial increase.

While the exact figure remains unconfirmed, sources place the annual wage at roughly £400,000, putting Pollock well above the league average of £191,000 and the £106,000 typical for players aged 20‑22. Only about 4 % of Premiership athletes earn more than £400,000 a season. His pay still trails Finn Russell of Bath, who commands about £1 million, but it places Pollock among the highest‑paid young players in the competition. Pollock dismissed the speculation that surrounded his future, saying he will now focus on rugby and the Saints’ title defence.

The extension secures a key piece of the Saints’ squad as they aim to become the first side since Saracens in 2019 to retain the Premiership crown. With the contract running until 2028, the club can plan its roster without fearing a mid‑term departure, though talks could reopen in about a year’s time.
