Fitch Ratings has removed Qatar from its “Rating Watch Negative” list, maintaining the country’s sovereign rating at AA. This decision was announced on Friday and reflects a decrease in risks to Qatar's liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, which have faced disruption amid the ongoing US-Israel war and tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

The change comes as the security landscape in the region has slightly improved since March, easing concerns about potential threats to Qatar's vital energy infrastructure. However, Fitch has retained a negative outlook on the rating due to persistent uncertainties regarding gas exports through the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz, which remains affected by the geopolitical conflict.

Qatar, recognized as one of the largest gas exporters globally, has been grappling with export challenges and energy facility damages since the onset of the war on Iran. Financial stability has been bolstered by Qatar's significant fiscal reserves, which have allowed the country to weather some of the economic impacts of the conflict. Earlier this year, credit agencies S&P and Moody’s reaffirmed Qatar’s ratings, highlighting the importance of this financial buffer.

Looking ahead, the long-term impact of the ongoing conflict on Qatar's credit profile may take time to assess fully. As global energy markets remain volatile, Qatar's ability to navigate these challenges will be crucial for its economic stability and reputation as a leading LNG supplier.
