Liverpool’s interest in RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande appears genuine, but securing a deal this summer may prove far from straightforward.
According to Sky Sports , via reporter Florian Plettenberg, there is growing optimism from the player’s camp regarding a move to an elite European club. However, Leipzig remain determined to keep hold of one of their most exciting young talents.
Plettenberg explained the situation from Diomande’s perspective, stating:
“It is possible from the player side, he [Diomande] has joined the big, big agency Roc Nation Sports International, who have a very clear plan for his career and the plan is to join a special, top club already in the next transfer window and we also have to look at him in the World Cup.”
That development naturally raises Liverpool’s interest. The club have consistently targeted young players with elite potential and Diomande appears to fit that recruitment profile.
Despite the speculation, Leipzig are showing little desire to negotiate.
“But there are two sides and on the other hand there is RB Leipzig who have the clear plan to keep him for another year, [managing director] Oliver Mintzlaff and Jurgen Klopp want to extend his contract and adjust his contract and make him into the next big thing with Leipzig.”
The Bundesliga club believe patience will further increase both the player’s value and development.
