Merge Rush
By QuickGames · Puzzle · Strategy
2048 is the iconic sliding tile puzzle where you merge matching numbers to reach the legendary 2048 tile. This version features smooth animations, an undo button, floating score pop-ups, and a leaderboard to track your best sessions.
Each move slides all tiles in a chosen direction. Two tiles with the same value merge into one, doubling their worth. A new tile (2 or 4) spawns after every move. The game ends when the board is full with no valid merges.

Basic Controls
Use Arrow Keys on keyboard, or Swipe on mobile to move tiles
All tiles slide as far as possible in the chosen direction
Equal tiles merge when they collide during a slide
Press Ctrl+Z or the Undo button to reverse one move
Winning
Reach the 2048 tile to win! But you can keep playing to achieve even higher tiles like 4096, 8192, or beyond.
Corner Strategy
Pick a corner and try to keep your highest tile there. Avoid moving it away — build a "snake" of decreasing values outward from your corner tile.
Don't Fill the Board
Always try to keep at least a few empty cells. A full board ends the game fast. Prioritize horizontal merges to maintain freedom.
Merge Chains
Line up sequences like 2-2-4-8-16 so a single swipe triggers a chain of merges, scoring big points at once.
Tile Value Reference
2→4→8→16→32→64→128→256→512→1024→2048 — each merge doubles. You need 11 merges in a perfect chain to reach 2048 from 2.
What happens after you reach 2048?
You win and the game congratulates you — but you can keep playing! Many players continue past 2048 aiming for 4096, 8192, or even 16384. The game only ends when the board is full with no valid merges.
What is the highest possible tile in 2048?
Theoretically 131072 on a 4×4 board (2¹⁷). In practice most players peak around 4096–16384. Achieving 65536 or higher requires near-perfect play across hundreds of moves.
Does the Undo button affect my score?
Undo reverses your last move including any tiles spawned. Score points from that move are also removed. Unlimited undos are allowed — use them freely to explore strategies.
Is 2048 free?
Yes — 100% free, no ads, no login, no download. Your best score saves in your browser automatically. Submit to the leaderboard after the game ends.
