What Is My Screen Resolution? Free Screen, Browser and Device Checker

Your screen resolution is the number of pixels your display shows, written as width × height, for example 1920 × 1080. This page reads it straight from your device and shows three different numbers people often confuse: the CSS resolution your browser reports, the real physical resolution of the panel, and the size of the browser window (the viewport) you are looking at right now.

It also lists the device pixel ratio (how many physical pixels make one CSS pixel on Retina and high-DPI screens), colour depth, orientation, HDR and wide-colour support, your browser and operating system, CPU cores, memory, graphics card, language, time zone and connection type. Web designers use it to test responsive layouts, gamers to confirm their settings, and support teams to ask for exact details — one click copies everything as text.

Key features

Physical vs CSS pixels

Shows the real panel resolution and the scaled resolution your browser uses.

Live viewport size

Resize the window and watch the width and height update instantly.

Browser, OS and hardware

How to use it

  1. Open the page on the device you want to check.
  2. Read your resolution, real (physical) resolution and window size at the top.
  3. Scroll the table for pixel ratio, browser, OS, GPU and preferences.
  4. Click Copy all to send the details to support or a developer.

Worked example

Example

Screen 1440 × 900 (CSS) · pixel ratio 2 → physical 2880 × 1800 (QHD+) on a 13-inch Retina laptop
Viewport 1280 × 720 while the browser window is not maximised

Tips for the best results

  • Check the viewport, not the screen, when testing a responsive website.
  • A pixel ratio above 1 means text and images are drawn sharper than the CSS size suggests.
  • Set your operating system scaling to 100% to compare native resolution with what the browser reports.
  • Test both orientations on a phone or tablet.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming the browser window equals the screen size.
  • Ignoring scaling: a 4K screen at 200% scaling reports 1920 × 1080 CSS pixels.
  • Trusting the user-agent string for exact OS versions — browsers freeze or shorten it on purpose.

Frequently asked questions

What is my screen resolution?

It is shown at the top of this page as width × height. The larger card shows the real physical resolution of your display.

Why is my resolution different from what I set?

Operating-system scaling changes what the browser sees. A 3840 × 2160 display at 200% scaling appears to websites as 1920 × 1080 CSS pixels, with a device pixel ratio of 2.

What is the viewport?

The viewport is the visible area inside the browser window where the page is drawn. It changes when you resize the window, zoom or rotate a phone.

What is device pixel ratio?

How many physical screen pixels are used for one CSS pixel. Standard screens are 1, Retina and most phones are 2 or 3.

Is my information sent anywhere?

No. Everything is read from your browser on your own device and is never uploaded or stored.

Why are some fields blank or approximate?

Browsers deliberately hide or round details such as memory, exact OS version and GPU to reduce tracking. Safari and Firefox report fewer fields than Chrome.
